The SQUISHY model shown above Features*:

Controller:

  • Sonar/IR module.
  • 4 Axis Servo module.
  • 2 Axis PWM/Stepper motor control module.
  • Direction/Attitude module.
Each micro controller maintains communication over a two wire multi-drop serial protocol. Along with local decision making each module can direct other modules in addition to the central control computer's commands.

For example when the Sonar/IR module and Servo module have been given their profile, a nice scanning object detection and avoidance system is created and all relevant information is passed along to the central control computer for further decision making and usage.

Since each module uses a simple ascii control language, interfacing to many different central control computers is quite easy. The central control connection is a standard RS-232C 9 pin hookup at 38,400 baud.

Artificial learning is accomplished by the central control computer using fuzzy neural algorithms that build profiles while each axis is achieving it's motion goals.
